Hype Studies will have a strong presence at EASST 2026 next week in Krakow! Two years ago, 2024 EASST in Amsterdam was a crucial starting moment of Hype Studies. Now we are back with loads to share and to discuss.
🦄 Our Vassilis Galanos and Dr Ola Michalec are joining forces with Robin Williams and Neil Pollock for the conference's first Roundtable titled 'Hype Studies, Meet STS; STS, Meet Hype Studies' (with a friendly nod to our friend David Ribes).
🕙 When: Tuesday 8 September, 10:00-11:30
🛖 Where: C-7, 0.17
🎤 We have a terrific line-up of discussants. Sociology of Expectations legends Kornelia Konrad and Harro van Lente are joined by Responsible Innovation pioneer Jack Stilgoe building on vast experiences in the study of hype; as well as Annika Aebli, PhD and Jacek Mańko steering conversation towards new directions and dynamics for the field. The first 60-minute conversation will be followed by a 30-minute interaction with the audience. Please consider joining us if you are at EASST!
📼 Conference organisers have not only honoured us with a first day slot, but kindly permitted us to record the first part of the session for our archival purposes - a video will be available once the conference is over, so stay tuned!
🎙️ Also don't miss out on our group's discussant contributions to the 'Unpacking alternative futures' panel taking place multiple days in C-4, 302 AB, as well as solo contributions from Wenzel Mehnert, Vassilis Galanos, Pierre Depaz, Andreu Belsunces Gonçalves, and Dr Ola Michalec!
🦦 Hype Studies will be hanging around over the EASST week in Krakow, so do get in touch if you wanna say hi!
